// Afterglow - a Herb Crown series

The work takes its starting point in herb wreaths braided from woodruff, creeping bulge, lady´s mantle, wild strawberry and clover: plants that women have used and worn across generations as symbols of both fertility and connection to the earth. Each wreath / crown is pressed and mono-printed in several stages - once in shadow, once in light. Bare, and afterward hand-colored. On the dark ground the wreath appears as an afterglow, a trace of what was once. On the light ground it returns, painted and vibrant. Two sides of the same gesture where the braided both fades away and rises again.

The 30 variations are all unique mono-prints and can only be created once. The herb wreath prints are made on discarded table cloths from the Danish laundry industry, which are given new life as backgrounds for the botanical motifs.

Framed Herbariums

Art works in the "cocktail napkin format - 15x15 cm " linking to the history of herbarium and  tradition herbal medicine.

25 small plants, pressed and printed in squares, side by side. ch its own species, each its own growth form - but together they form a color spectrum , a single movement through color. From the earliest earth-toned impressions to the last, deep green and bluish tones. The sequence matters - just as in nature, where nothing grows in isolation, but always in connection with what come before and what comes after.
